Home-Made Observing Chair

And of course, no astro-photographer (or observational astronomer, either!) should be without his trusty observing chair.  This one was custom-made by myself of red oak and a little oak plywood, and is one of only two in existence.  It's currently in its "Revision 2.0" version, having undergone some minor improvements over the original, including the addition of an optional foot-rest (necessitated by the original height of the LX200GPS 12" telescope's Giant Field Tripod).  The design is my own, adapted from several similar chairs available commercially and build-your-own.  The seat cushion is infinitely adjustable in height and held in place at a given height by friction and the user's weight.  The chair feet and foot-rest are removed and stored on the chair back for transport, and the seat cushion assembly is removed and used to hold the entire collapsed chair assembly together when the chair is being transported to a viewing site.
