Note |
This is a 10-minute video
(sped up 4x), with a 4-minute lead-in to the 4+ minutes of
totality, with another 2 minutes post-totality, as seen from, of
all places, the Sam's Club parking lot in Cape Girardeau,
Missouri. I took this with an old GoPro Hero 4. It's taken with
the widest angle and highest resolution that I could get on the
GoPro, and all automatic settings, so the sun is by nature tiny
and over-exposed. This was fine by me because I really wanted to
capture what happened on the ground and in the rest of the sky
as well. Notice how the moon's shadow moves in from the right
(southwest) side and exits from the left (northeast). Also
notice how dark things became. The light on the ground was also
very dim and muted for both ends of this video because it only
extends about a short while on either side of totality, and the
sun was still almost covered by the moon. By the way, Venus is
the bright dot a little below and to the right of the eclipsed
sun. The video is only about 2:30 long, since I saved the
original 10 minutes of video at 4x normal speed. |
